The ACLA Advisory Board is a diverse group committed to assisting non-profit organizations within our communities.

 

Ellen Hargis

Volunteer Center of Tucson                                       

    Ellen Hargis, President and Chief Executive Officer of the

    Volunteer Center of Tucson, has made it possible for the

    Center to achieve major accomplishments on a limited

    budget by forging relationships and collaborations with

    other organizations and leveraging financial resources. 

    A noted workshop leader and trainer, Hargis is frequently

    called upon to make leadership training presentations

    to both the corporate and non-profit sectors.  Her peers have twice named her

    Agency Director of the Year, an unprecedented honor.  She has also been

    named a Greater Tucson Leader.  Her community involvement includes

    serving on the Arizona Commission on Service and Volunteerism.

Kathryn B. Nelson

Haralson, Miller, Pitt, Feldman & McAnally, PLC

    Kay Nelson earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in

    1988 from the University of Arizona, and her law degree

    in 1991 from the University of Arizona College of Law. 

    Nelson was admitted to the Arizona Bar in 1991, and

    has focused her practice in the areas of real estate,

    commercial finance, and general corporate transactions,

    providing representation to both exempt and non-exempt organizations. 

    Nelson is a member of the Arizona Women Lawyer's Association, Tucson

    CREW, and Women in Tax and Finance.  She is an associate at the firm of

    Haralson, Miller, Pitt, Feldman & McAnally, PLC.

Luis A. Ochoa

Quarles & Brady Streich Lang LLP

    After receiving his bachelor's degree from the University

    of Arizona in 1983 and his Juris Doctorate from the

    University of Arizona College of Law in 1986, Luis

    Ochoa has focused his practice on gaming and Indian

    law and the counseling of exempt organizations and

    business clients in all phases of corporate operations,

    including commercial transactions, tax, business planning, real estate, and

    bankruptcy matters. Ochoa currently serves on the Board of Directors for the

    Pima County Bar Association, and is a partner at Quarles & Brady Streich

    Lang, LLP in Tucson.

Mary Beth Savel

Lewis and Roca, LLP   

    Mary Beth Savel is a a partner of Lewis and Roca,

    LLP, practicing in their Tucson office.  Her practice

    includes transactional, administrative, and litigation

    matters, primarily in the areas of land use, zoning

    and development, and municipal law.  In addition,

    she has worked extensively in commercial and tort/

    insurance defense litigation.  Savel obtained her B.S. in Biology/Chemistry in

    1981 and her Secondary Education Certificate in 1985 at the University of

    Arizona.  She then attended the James E. Rogers College of Law at the

    University of Arizona and obtained her J.D. in 1992.  Savel is a member of the

    Arizona Women Lawyers Association and the Arizona Planning Association,

    is the chair of the Pima County Legal Community Against Hunger fundraising

    drive, and has served on the Board of Directors of the Tucson Adult Literacy

    Volunteers, Inc.
